De groepsleden maakten allemaal deel uit van de hardcore punk scene van Chicago en dat is aan Take This To Your Grave nog duidelijk te horen. De LP wordt dan ook nog altijd aanzien als 1 van de meest invloedrijkste albums voor de latere pop-punk muziek.
