Mingus Takes Manhattan is een box met 4 LP's van Charles Mingus. De jazz legende trad begin jaren 60 meermaals in de beroemde Birdland jazz club in New York. De optredens werden destijds uitgezonden op de radio. Die opnames werden gereinigd en remasterd en opnames verschijnen nu eindelijk op vinyl.
Charles Mingus trad 7 keer op in de Birdland Club. Hij trad telkens op met een wisselende groep van muzikanten. Zo zijn oa. Yusef Lateef, Roland Kirk, Jaki Byard, Booker Ervin, Pepper Adams, Charles McPherson en Dannie Richmond te horen op de 4 LP's.
Box in limited edition en op 180gr kwaliteitsvinyl. De opnames zijn in mono.
