10.000 Maniacs traden in 1993 op voor de MTV Unplugged reeks. Het album verschijnt nu voor het eerst op vinyl. Naast hun bekendste nummers brengt de groep rond zangeres Natalie Merchant ook een aantal covers waaronder Because The Night van Patti Smith. Het nummer verscheen daarna als single. Daarnaast zijn er ook 3 nummers met David Byrne als gastzanger.

Het album werd een gigantisch succes in 1993 en haalde 3 keer platina in de VS.
